FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
EXPERT HOME CARE OFFERS CLIENTS A NEW SERVICE:
PET THERAPY
Lola, a four-year-old Havanese, is in the process
of scheduling visits this year for clients of Expert Home Care, the
25-year-old home care agency based in New Brunswick.
“We’re very excited to offer our clients
a chance to spend time with Lola,” said Frank Esposito, Vice President
of Expert Home Care, who is also Lola’s owner. “There will
be no cost for the visit, as there should never be for anyone who receives
pet therapy visits.”
Pet therapy has been found to have a therapeutic effect
on people as it can relieve stress, lower blood pressure, raise spirits
and increase self-confidence. For years, therapy dogs have been used
in schools, hospitals and retirement communities to provide comfort
and affection as well as entertainment and simple enjoyment.
Lola is a pet therapy professional, who has made nursing
home visits accompanied by members of the Esposito family. She is certified
as a pet therapy dog with Bright and Beautiful Therapy Dogs, which goes
beyond basic obedience training to learning how to be comfortable in
a variety of settings. She also earned her AKC Canine Good Citizenship
Award, given only to dogs with very good manners.
“Lola loves being around people, likes to be
petted and has brought many a smile to those she meets,” said
Esposito, who admits that his wife and two children had to convince
him in getting Lola in the first place. “She is calm and laid
back, but also very playful. She comes into the Expert Home Care office
quite frequently and the entire staff adores her. She is a real morale
booster!”
According to Esposito, the invitation to spend time
with Lola – 30 minutes or so of interacting with her, having her
sit on their lap, and watching her dance – is open to any Expert
Home Care clients who are not actively sick with a contagious illness.
